Fire Destroys Home on Cedar Street in Tupper Lake

A structure fire on Sunday morning destroyed a single-family residence at 66 Cedar St. in Tupper Lake. The homeowner escaped without injury.

Unfortunately, two cats living in the house died despite firefighters' attempts to revive them using oxygen masks specially made for pets.

“We were able to pull a couple of lines quickly to try to knock the fire down as best as possible until we could get more personnel there,”

said Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department Chief Royce Cole. The fire was first reported at 8:39 a.m. and firefighters from Paul Smiths were called in for additional manpower.

No injuries were reported among firefighters.
