A massive gas explosion occurred at the Road Motor Service (RMS) depot in Bulawayo, throwing a welder onto a roof.
The welder, who sustained serious injuries, was rescued by the Bulawayo Fire Brigade. Chief Fire Officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo stated that the explosion happened while the man was welding a tank, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
The explosion was powerful enough to throw the welder onto the roof of the shade he was working under.
The Bulawayo Fire Brigade responded promptly, rescuing the injured individual and providing on-site medical attention before transporting him to Mpilo Hospital. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion and potential safety lapses.
