Louisiana officials have canceled the Mid-Breton Sediment Diversion project, a major coastal restoration effort.
The project aimed to channel fresh water and sediment from the Mississippi River to the dying coastal marshes of Breton Sound.
The state will not continue the Mid-Breton Sediment Diversion, confirmed Gordon Dove, chairman of the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
