The city of Seattle is implementing a new approach to discourage people from soliciting prostitutes on Aurora Avenue North.
Detectives from the Human Trafficking Unit will send warning letters to the registered owners of vehicles observed engaging with sex workers.
These letters, issued by detectives, serve as a warning and do not carry any penalty or criminal charges.
The letter states:
"The purpose of this letter is to serve as a warning to you that persons operating your vehicle were engaged in suspected sexual exploitation activity... SPD is not accusing you of a crime, and no criminal charges will follow based on this incident."
