UK Leads Polar Climate Change Research
Britain's flagship polar research vessel, the RRS Sir David Attenborough, is heading to Antarctica to support climate change science projects.
The state-of-the-art ship, operated by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), is equipped with a helipad, laboratories, and gadgetry to aid research on various topics, including underwater tsunamis, glacier melt, and whale populations.
"The saying goes 'what happens in Antarctica doesn't stay in Antarctica',"
BAS oceanographer Peter Davis expressed regret that the United States is "drawing back" from scientific exploration in the region.
