Cam Atkinson Retires as a Columbus Blue Jacket
Cam Atkinson, a celebrated player in Columbus Blue Jackets history, has officially retired from the team after signing a one-day honorary contract.
Atkinson, a sixth-round draft pick in 2008, is second in the franchise's record books for points, goals, and game-winning goals, and a two-time All-Star.
"We have so many friends here," Atkinson said. "The Fifth Line are some of the best fans in the league."
Atkinson held back tears during his news conference, speaking about his love for his family and the city of Columbus.
