Meridah Nandudu, a single mom of two, was unemployed and in despair. She then had an idea to use coffee beans to lead her to a better life.
Nandudu grew up in a remote village in Uganda, where her parents and grandparents were coffee farmers. However, she wasn't interested in following their footsteps initially.
"Medium roast is my favorite," she says, "It brings out the caramels, the body of the coffee, the chocolate flavors."
Coffee has become a critical part of her life story and her work to improve the lives of women in her community. She founded and runs Bayaaya Specialty Coffee, transforming her life and the lives of women from her village.
