After a year, the Chief Priest allowed Brother John to speak two words, to which he said:
Hard Bed. The Chief Priest apologized and promised a better bed.
The following year, Brother John was again allowed to speak two words, saying
Cold Food. The Chief Priest assured him that the food would improve.
On his third anniversary, the Chief Priest allowed Brother John to speak two words again, but instead of speaking, the Chief Priest said:
It is probably best, and criticized Brother John for complaining all the time.
