Earthquake Strikes in Berkeley
A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck in Berkeley, just east of Cal Memorial Stadium, on Thursday morning at 9:23 a.m.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was on the UC Berkeley Campus, 800 feet north east of the Cal Memorial Stadium, less than an hour before the Great California Shake Out earthquake drill.
- The quake occurred just before the annual earthquake drill, in which millions of Californians participate.
- This event comes less than a month after a 4.3 earthquake centered in Berkeley shook the Bay Area on September 22.
- Over 1,400 people reported feeling the quake from as far away as Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Lodi, and Sunnyvale.
