The Luzerne County Election Board’s post-election adjudication will commence earlier than in previous years.
Adjudication is the process of determining which flagged mail and provisional ballots are accepted or rejected, and tallying write-in votes.
Traditionally, adjudication begins on the Friday after elections, but according to County Election Director Emily Cook, her team will have all necessary information prepared to start on Thursday, allowing for an earlier commencement.
Cook attributed the change to revised procedures prioritizing adjudication preparation.
The adjudication process, which is open to the public, will begin at 9 a.m. on November 9.
Adjudication determines which flagged mail and provisional ballots are accepted or rejected and tallies write-in votes.
Author’s summary: Election adjudication starts sooner this year.
