The 8 Physical Therapist-Approved Hip Exercises That Brought Me Back from Injury

Learn the power of resistance band glute exercises for running strong and pain-free.

I started running consistently about 10 years ago, with the goal of completing the 2016 New York City Marathon. To achieve this, I signed up for the New York Road Runner’s 9+1 program, which requires running nine races and volunteering at one.

However, within my first year of regular running, I developed a serious case of IT band syndrome, which forced me to stop running. I went to physical therapy to recover and was prescribed a set of exercises to do at home.

The prescribed exercises were banded moves designed to strengthen my hips, which helped me recover from injury and get back to running.
