Roy McDonald, a Vietnam veteran, will be honored as the 2025 Veteran of the Year at a ceremony hosted by the New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs.
McDonald, from Troy, served as an artillery forward observer in Vietnam with the First Cavalry Division. He later held office as Wilton town supervisor, state assemblyman, and state senator.
He is being recognized for his military service, legislative work supporting veterans, and advocacy for autism awareness. The event is free and open to the public.
