Symposium celebrates neurodiversity

The BVI Beacon reports that neurodiversity took centre stage this month at Lemonade BVI’s second annual ADHD and Dyslexia Symposium.

More than 150 people attended the event, held on Oct. 11 at the Save the Seed Energy Centre, aiming to build understanding, promote inclusion and celebrate neurodiversity across the territory.

Attendees included parents, educators, medical professionals, community leaders and others, with 15 coming from Virgin Gorda.

A presentation by psychiatrist Dr. Jardine Torno, titled The Changing Face of ADHD: From Childhood Signs to Adult Realities, followed a prayer from Apostle Curnal Fahie.

A morning panel discussed Perspectives on ADHD: Is ADHD Just an Excuse for Bad Behaviour?
