Assiniboia Man Charged for Unlawful Hunting

An Assiniboia-area man is facing charges after conservation officers investigated an elk that was left to waste near Aylsham, Sask.

According to SaskTip, Nipawin conservation officers were notified on Sept. 27 about a cow elk that had been shot and left to waste. Officers located the animal and collected evidence.

Conservation officers believe the elk was shot sometime between the evening of Sept. There was a draw for elk of either sex at the time the animal was killed.

The man is now facing two counts of unlawful hunting, two counts of wasting game, and one count of hunting without landowner consent.

SaskTip is a non-profit organization that offers rewards to help catch those who break resource and environmental laws.
