IndiGo has finalized a firm order for 30 additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, converting a June Memorandum of Understanding and increasing its Airbus A350 backlog to 60 jets.
The carrier’s CEO, Pieter Elbers, stated that the deal supports the airline’s goal of becoming a global player by 2030, aligning with India's aviation hub ambitions.
India is discontinuing routes like Washington DC, and Air India suspended its Washington DC route due to a shortage of aircraft, with no plans to recommence until 2026.
It remains to be seen how long it will take for IndiGo to expand to North America.
