Scientists Use AI to Learn the Language of Biomolecules

Researchers at the University of Glasgow have utilized a powerful supercomputer to develop a new machine learning model that can help translate the language of proteins.

The cross-disciplinary team developed a large language model (LLM), called PLM-Interact, to better understand protein interactions and predict which mutations will impact how these molecules interact with each other.

The new model, PLM-Interact, outperforms competing models in understanding and predicting protein interactions.

Author's summary: Scientists use AI to understand protein language.
