State Rep. Marcus Wiedower Resigns

State Rep. Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) is resigning from his seat, triggering a special election to replace him.

Wiedower, a four-term legislator representing District 121, including most of Oconee County and the southeastern portion of Clarke County, cited his growing real estate business, Hillpointe, as the reason for his resignation. He serves as vice president of external affairs at Hillpointe.

“This decision has been incredibly difficult. Serving in the Georgia General Assembly has been one of the greatest honors of my life,”

Wiedower expressed his gratitude to his constituents and colleagues, and looks forward to remaining involved in the community and addressing Georgia's challenges, particularly attainable housing, through his work at Hillpointe.
