Georgia State Representative Steps Down

A Georgia lawmaker, Marcus Wiedower, is resigning from his position in the House after six years, creating another vacancy in the General Assembly.

Wiedower cited the rapid growth of his company, Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm, as the reason for his resignation. The expansion will require more travel, taking him away from the Capitol during the legislative session.

“While I’m stepping away from elected office, I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe,”

Wiedower's resignation brings the total number of vacancies in the House and Senate to four. Author's summary: Lawmaker resigns due to company growth.
