It has been two years since Samuel Abayateye, a Ghanaian fisheries observer, went missing from the fishing boat Marine 707, which he was monitoring.

Despite repeated requests from Abayateye's family, the Fisheries Alliance, and international organizations, the Ghanaian government has not provided any answers about his fate.

The family still hasn't received the results of a DNA test from a body that washed up near their home shortly after his disappearance.

Mongabay reached out to the Ghanaian police for details about the case, but did not receive a response.
