Next-Generation Lithium Metal Anodes
Lithium-ion batteries are reaching their physical and technological limits, but lithium metal battery systems are a promising successor technology.
The EU project STELLAR, led by the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM, aims to develop a cost-efficient test facility for the safe and sustainable production of lithium metal anode foils.

The project, which kicked off in June 2025, involves 16 European partners and will run for four years.
