Hong Kong Tennis Open: Last China Players Exit
Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan lost in straight sets, while top seed Belinda Bencic continued her climb into the world top 10.
China's last two representatives at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open were eliminated on Wednesday. No 1 seed Belinda Bencic marched on, defeating Wang Yafan 6-2, 6-2.
- Zhang Shuai lost to Russia's Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-1.
- Belinda Bencic defeated Wang Yafan in one hour and 16 minutes.
"I felt good on the court," Bencic said. "I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well."
Bencic came to Hong Kong after winning the Japan Open, marking her sixth victory in a row.
