Inquest Opens into Death of Manchester Synagogue Terrorist
An inquest has been opened into the death of Jihad Al-Shamie, the terrorist who attacked the Manchester synagogue on October 2.
Al-Shamie, 35, a Syrian-born UK citizen from Prestwich, died from multiple gunshot wounds after aggressively approaching armed police while carrying a knife and wearing a suspected suicide belt.
- The incident occurred at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, at approximately 9:30am.
- Two worshippers, Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby, were killed in the attack.
The inquest, which was opened and adjourned at Manchester Coroner’s Court, will investigate the circumstances surrounding Al-Shamie's death.
