Zach Porthen to Make Springbok Debut
Zach Porthen, 22, will make history as South Africa's youngest prop against Japan on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
Porthen, born in Cape Town, has only made one appearance for the DHL Stormers. His high school rugby coach, Justin Van Winkel, noted that Porthen's skill set destined him for greatness.
"It feels like yesterday when you were still running around on these fields. I speak for all the staff, and everyone involved in this community when we say we absolutely super proud of you."
Cedric Poleman, headmaster of Wynberg Boys Junior School, expressed pride in Porthen's achievement on the school's social media page.
