Surrey County Council Develops Innovative EHCP Apprenticeship
Surrey County Council has introduced the UK's first nationally recognized apprenticeship program for staff working with the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
This pioneering program aims to professionalize and strengthen the role of EHCP coordinators across England, in response to the growing demand for specialist support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Launched on 1 November with a pilot cohort of 30 SEND professionals.
- Designed to meet the needs of all councils in England.
The apprenticeship program is a first-of-its-kind initiative to support staff working with EHCP.
