Why Jays Challenged Out-of-Play Call vs Seattle Mariners
A bizarre play occurred during the Seattle Mariners' three-run fifth inning in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series.
The play began with Randy Arozarena grounding an infield single up the middle to Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Andrés Giménez, who made a spinning attempt to throw out Arozarena at first.
Giménez's throw sailed wide of the first-base bag and hit Mariners slugger Eugenio Suárez, who was sitting on the top step of the dugout.
The ball was initially ruled out of play, allowing Arozarena to advance to second.
This ball got by the 1st baseman and hit Eugenio Suárez in the Mariners dugout.
