Native Americans in Nevada Renew Push for Indigenous Peoples' Day

As President Donald Trump's Columbus Day proclamation pledges to "reclaim" the holiday honoring the Italian explorer, Native Americans in Nevada are renewing their call to recognize Indigenous Peoples' Day.

said Michael Green, a professor of history at UNLV.

Columbus' actions have been widely criticized, with some arguing that

"Columbus did not do some very nice things, to put it mildly. And in particular, Indigenous people were his victims. There are those who argue that Columbus was guilty of genocide."
