A proposal is under consideration by the Treasury Department to feature President Donald Trump's likeness on a 2026 American Semiquincentennial dollar coin.
According to Treasurer Brandon Beach, proposed designs for the coin, featuring President Trump on both the obverse and reverse, were showcased at a press conference and shared on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter).
Living persons, including a former or sitting president, are currently barred from such recognition by current law until two years after their death.
Beach announced that additional proposed images will be released online once the federal government shutdown is resolved.
