The Madani government has been criticized for its role in facilitating Pannir Selvam's death through a reckless and factually incorrect statement.
On October 7, 2025, Deputy Home Minister Shamsul Anuar Nasarah claimed that the information provided by Pannir Selvam Pranthaman to Malaysian police was "of no operational value".
