Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has given Speaker Mike Johnson a 2-day ultimatum to schedule Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva's swearing-in ceremony, or she will take legal action.
Rep.-elect Grijalva, who was elected to represent Arizona's 7th Congressional District, has yet to be sworn in three weeks after the election.
In a letter to Johnson's office, Mayes stated that the oath of office ceremony must take place before the end of the federal government shutdown, which is set to occur by Thursday.
Mayes announced that she was sending the letter during the official canvas of the Sept. 23 special election results.
