Canadian Tire Corporation Experiences Data Breach
Canadian Tire Corporation announced a data breach affecting e-commerce customer information on October 2.
The unauthorized activity was limited to that database, which did not include Canadian Tire Bank information or Triangle Rewards loyalty data.
The breach involved basic personal information, including name, address, email, and year of birth, as well as encrypted passwords and truncated credit card information.
- The database contained information for customers with e-commerce accounts at Canadian Tire, SportChek, Mark’s/L’Équipeur, and Party City.
- There was no impact on in-store transactions, and all e-commerce systems are operational.
