Camper Trailer Destroyed in Grand Junction Fire

A camper trailer was gutted by a fire early Tuesday morning in the 200 block area of 28 1/2 road.

According to the Grand Junction Fire Department, crews were sent to the scene at 7:02 a.m. after neighbors reported seeing smoke, flames, and explosions from inside the trailer.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, although firefighters initially were unsure if anyone was inside the trailer. Dispatch later confirmed that the trailer was unoccupied.

By the time the first fire engine arrived, the fire had spread, damaging two nearby cars and another trailer.

Fire officials are continuing to investigate the origin and cause of the fire.
