Rangers defenseman faces hometown Oilers after 'solid' season debut

Rangers Defenseman Faces Hometown Oilers

Matthew Robertson, a 24-year-old defenseman, will play for the New York Rangers against the Edmonton Oilers at Madison Square Garden.

Robertson, an Edmonton native, is grateful for any opportunity to be in the Rangers lineup. He previously played for the Oil Kings in the Western Hockey League from 2017-21.

Robertson will be on the second defense pair with Will Borgen, replacing injured veteran Carson Soucy. He was a healthy scratch in the first three games before Soucy's injury.

Robertson never takes for granted any opportunity to be in the New York Rangers lineup.

The Rangers will host the Oilers, led by Connor McDavid, on Tuesday.
