MCMC Opens Public Inquiry On New Mandatory Standards For Prepaid SIM Registration

The inquiry is held in accordance with Sections 55 and 61 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, seeking to promote transparency and public participation in shaping the new regulatory framework.

The proposed standards aim to replace the existing Prepaid User Registration Guidelines 2017, introducing a more secure and accountable registration process, including a multi-factor authentication (MFA) mechanism via a secure automated platform.
