Gardner Newman Girls Cross Country Team Finishes Third at State

The Gardner Newman girls cross country team made history by finishing third at the Division II state competition, their highest finish in program history.

With a team mostly composed of first-year runners, the Mustangs showed significant progress throughout the season.

"The first race was really tough, but you just kind of get used to it after a bunch of practices and races,"
said eighth-grader Emma Clark.

Despite their achievement, the runners were self-critical and somewhat disappointed with their placement. However, head coach Denae Hill was not disappointed with the team's performance.

The team's third-place finish at state sets a new school record, marking a notable milestone for the Gardner Newman girls cross country team.
