IDOA, ACES, and local food banks unite to deliver 1,000+ pounds of protein during Hunger Action Month

Combating Hunger with Community Efforts

Austin Ater, a 14-year-old Champaign County 4-H member, marked his birthday by donating his award-winning pen of chickens to support the local community in fighting hunger.

This donation is part of the Sale of Champions program, a collaboration between the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) and the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

This program reflects a growing partnership between the Illinois Department of Agriculture and the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.

The total donation exceeded 1,100 pounds of protein, which will be distributed to food banks across Illinois.
