France's Recognized Cultural Heritage
France's rich cultural heritage has been acknowledged by UNESCO, with numerous customs and traditions making the list of 'intangible cultural heritage'.
A group of French cheese enthusiasts, known as the 'Confrérie des chevaliers du camembert', has submitted a request for Camembert to be included on the list for 2025.
Camembert, the famous Norman cheese, may become the 31st French item on the list.
UNESCO's intangible heritage list aims to preserve cultural practices, in contrast to the World Heritage List, which recognizes historic monuments and natural locations.
