Our Opinion: Legislature should leave public notices alone

For obvious reasons, we are big on preserving the public's right to know and local journalism.

A handful of bills before the state House of Representatives (H.2243, H.2315, H.2323, H.4138 and H.4244) pertain to public notices.

These notices appear in newspapers to notify residents about certain municipal or community business such as upcoming public hearings, open bids for public works projects, probate court outcomes and real estate sales.
