Malakye Cunningham has signed with Perth Redbacks for the 2026 NBL1 West season, eager to "get the chance to prove myself" after fearing his career might be over.

The 21-year-old has been home in Australia since May 2025 after a four-year stint in the United States' high school and college systems.
Cunningham has previous experience in the NBL1 North competition with Southern District Spartans, and is looking to revive his career after knee issues marred his time in the US.
