Allahabad High Court Summons ADG Varanasi Over Extortion Case
The Allahabad High Court has summoned the Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Varanasi, to personally appear before it.
A CBCID head constable is accused of extortion, and the court found that he was allegedly being shielded by the police.
The case involves serious allegations of forcibly taking 40 blank signed cheques and five blank signed papers from a man and then using them to extort money.
The accused, including Randhir Singh, posted with the CBCID in Varanasi, had extracted the cheques under coercion from the informant.
- The bench of Justice Ajay Bhanot and Justice Garima Prashad passed the direction while hearing a writ petition.
