Disaster Aid Distribution in Western Alaska
The State of Alaska has started distributing disaster relief payments to residents of Western Alaska affected by storm damage from ex-Typhoon Halong.
As of Friday, over $217,000 has been distributed, with more than 941 applications for individual assistance received by the state.
The application period is open through November, and residents can apply on the state's website.
Additionally, the Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Health are providing assistance with replacing lost or damaged identification and essential documents at emergency evacuation shelters in Anchorage.
The Association of Village Council Presidents is also offering tribal IDs in the shelters, and state caseworkers, along with a Yup'ik speaking public notary, are helping with documentation.
