The Navy's Pacific Fleet reported that a fighter jet and a helicopter based on the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier crashed into the South China Sea within 30 minutes of each other.
The three crew members of the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter were rescued, and the two aviators in the F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet ejected and were recovered safely. All five are in stable condition, according to the fleet's statement.
President Donald Trump suggested the incidents could have been caused by "bad fuel" and ruled out foul play, stating "there was nothing to hide."
The causes of the crashes are under investigation.
