Saudi Railway Company and Ericsson Partner on 5G Technology
The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ericsson to trial 5G technology across its rail network.
Under the agreement, Ericsson will deploy equipment to support enhanced communication, train control, and safety across SAR's lines. The partnership aims to assess the potential of 5G technology to modernize operations and improve passenger connectivity.

- High-speed passenger broadband
The initial deployment will cover one of SAR's routes to evaluate performance under real-world conditions. A dedicated innovation centre will be established to trial and validate 5G applications.
The partnership will also introduce training programs to build local expertise and equip SAR's workforce to use advanced communications technologies.
