Reflection on Loss and Legacy
Kate Hanch shares her personal experience of loss, stating that three women who shaped her life continue to live on through her memories.
Secretly they continue to live within us and through us
In 2023, Hanch lost her two grandmothers within six weeks of each other, in January and February. Additionally, a dear friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away shortly after.
- Her friend's church hosted a celebration of life over Memorial Day weekend, which coincided with Pentecost.
- Her friend was surrounded by loved ones when she passed away a week later.
This experience gave new meaning to All Saints Day for Hanch, who finds comfort in the "Great Cloud of Witnesses" metaphor in Hebrews 12 and the "faithful hall of fame" in Hebrews 11.
