The Portageville Bulldogs beat Malden 61-0 in the Class 1 District opener, advancing to face top-seeded Charleston in the semifinals.
Malden ends its season winless at 0-10. The game was played on a brisk Halloween night at Portageville's football stadium.
“Anytime you get an opportunity to play, it’s exciting,”
said Portageville head coach Aaron Bidwell. The Bulldogs got off to a solid 22-0 start in the first quarter, with junior running back Brody Warren scoring an 18-yard rushing touchdown, followed by senior Antonio Hickenbottom's first touchdown of the night.
