Trump Ensures US Troops Will Receive Pay Despite Funding Lapse
President Donald Trump announced that US troops will get paid on October 15, despite a congressional budget lapse leading to a partial government shutdown.
Typically, military members do not receive pay when Congress fails to approve funding. However, Trump invoked his authority as Commander in Chief to ensure service members are paid.
"We have identified funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to PAY OUR TROOPS."
Trump directed US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to find the necessary funds, allowing 1.3 million military service members to receive their next paycheck on October 15.
