Albany Woman Charged with Manslaughter in Fatal Drunken Crash

A 25-year-old Albany woman, Imahjai Sutherland, has been charged with manslaughter for an alleged drunken crash on 787 that killed her two passengers.

State Police found a vehicle over an embankment off the northbound lanes in the area of Exit 5 just before 7 a.m. All three people in the vehicle had severe injuries.

The two passengers, 27-year-old Jamilla N. Tirado and 25-year-old Cepelynn T. Sutherland, both from Albany, were killed in the crash.

Police said the driver, Imahjai Sutherland, showed signs of intoxication and a blood sample was taken at Albany Medical Center. She was also charged with two counts of second-degree assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, DWI, and other vehicle and traffic violations.
