Man Found Guilty of Murdering Partner in Hot Tub

Aren Pearson, 41, has been found guilty of murdering his partner, Claire Leveque, 24, in a hot tub in Shetland.

According to the indictment, Pearson repeatedly struck Ms Leveque on the head, neck, and body with knives or similar instruments, inflicted blunt force trauma, compressed her neck, and submerged her head and body in water.

Ms Leveque, a Canadian national, was found with serious injuries and died a short time later.

After the incident, Pearson left the house, drove to the nearby Melby Pier, and deliberately drove his car into the sea before returning to the house where he was arrested.

Pearson's actions were described as "cruel and selfish" and the assault as "truly horrifying".
