Rescue of Trafficked Children in Plateau
Over 20 trafficked children have been rescued and reunited with their families in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to the Chairman, Hon. Sunday Riti, the area is among the top local government areas in Plateau State mostly affected by child trafficking.
Bassa is either first or second among the local governments with the highest number of child trafficking cases.
Riti disclosed that 14 children were recently brought back home through collaboration with the council, the Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission, and the Ministry of Women Affairs.
The Chairman emphasized the need for urgent, collective response to address the alarming situation.
