A Vermont Republican state senator is facing pressure to resign after a leaked group chat revealed racist and antisemitic language used by him and his wife.
Samuel Douglass, 27, a first-term Republican state senator from Orleans County, was involved in a racist text chat with fellow young Republicans from four states, including Vermont.
The hateful statements made in this group chat are disgusting and unacceptable.
Vermont Gov. Phil Scott called on Douglass to resign, stating the above. Douglass was recently nominated for “Legislator of the Year” at the Vermont GOP’s Awards Night.
