Bayelsa Governor Leaves PDP

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He made the announcement on Wednesday at the executive chamber in the Bayelsa State Government House, alongside the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abraham Ngobere, and 18 lawmakers.

The resignations mark a major shift in the state’s political landscape, following a recent move by his counterpart in Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah, who joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) just a day earlier.

At the moment, Governor Diri has not revealed which party he will join next, adding to a series of losses for the PDP this year, reducing the number of governors under the opposition party to eight.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Diri, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, confirmed the resignations on his verified social media account.
